MP3 Player Hardware and New Products
MP3 Player Hardware – Getting the Most for Your Money
When deciding upon the “best” MP3 player to buy, there’s a lot to take into consideration, including playback and digital recording capabilities, size, memory, durability, battery power and skip-free music. For many people though, price is the number one deciding factor, as digital MP3 players can be very pricey. The following list contains a number of high quality MP3 players that won’t cause your wallet too much trauma.
1. Rio Cali and Rio Forge
Known for its durability, this digital MP3 player comes with either 128MB or 258MB of memory. The Cali also has an FM tuner built in, handy for radio buffs. This MP3 player was definitely designed with the gym rat in mind, as its features include a stopwatch and a timer, and its accessories include and arm band and sports earphones. Fans of the Rio Cali might be interested in the Rio Forge, the updated version of the Cali. The Forge can hold up to 512MB of memory and has a stainless steel face, which creates even better durability for this player.
2. IRiver IFP-790
The IRiver comes with 256MB of memory, which amounts to roughly 8 hours of music, and it’s able to play continuously for 40 hours on one AA battery. A nice advantage to this player is that it supports USB 2.0, which allows for fast file transfers. It also has a built-in microphone, and it’s capable of recording audio from almost any other source due to its in-line cable.
3. Creative MuVo TX FM and the MuVo Slim
This digital MP3 player can hold up to 512MB of storage, and is among the smaller MP3 players, weighing in at only 1.5 ounces. However, it can only run for about 15 hours on one AAA battery. The battery case can be pulled apart from the portable player itself. The MuVo Slim version is extremely thin, as its name suggests – it’s as narrow as six stacked credit cards! In addition to playing MP3s and WMAs (Windows Media) files, it can also carry photos and other files. It offers 256MB of storage.
4. Samsung YP-T5
This tiny MP3 player (weighing 0.05 pounds!) comes in 125MB and 256MB versions, the latter offering up to 250 minutes of playback time. This digital MP3 player also sports a cool virtual “surround sound” feature, and comes with a neck strap to boot.
If you combine your broadband Internet connection with some of these MP3 players, you’ll soon be able to build a powerful music library!
