There may be a new song at the top of the online music charts with the arrival of the Yahoo! Music Engine. Yahoo! Music Engine is part of Yahoo! Music Unlimited and runs on Windows XP and Windows 2000.

The new Yahoo! Service is set to challenge industry giants Napster and iTunes. Yahoo! Music Engine costs nearly two-thirds less than its current competition. A non-factor in the online music industry, Yahoo! is simply abiding by the old “better late than never philosophy.”

Yahoo! Music Engine Offers More for Less

Yahoo! Music Engine provides users with the capability to stream or download an infinite amount of songs. These tunes can be easily transferred to any portable music device that supports Microsoft's Janus digital rights management technology.

Yahoo! Music Engine service with subscription downloadsisbeing offered at an introductory price of $4.95 per month. By comparison, Napster and Real Player charge customers just under $15 per month for the same features and functions. For those who do not wish to sign up at the monthly rate, individual songs can be purchased for $.99 cents each. It will cost Yahoo! Music Engine users just $.79 cents to buy any song they want, indefinitely.
