How to Find Internet Cafes Abroad – It’s Easy!

How to Find Internet Cafés Abroad

Got a big trip planned to Europe? We’re jealous! In any case, you’ll probably want to stay in touch with friends and family while you’re gone and let them know about all the fun adventures you’re having.

Next to snail mail, the best and easiest way to stay in touch is to send e-mails or to chat over instant messenger programs. If you’re staying in hostels and hotels while you’re traveling, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating Internet cafes, as they are popping up all over cities outside of the U.S. It’s a good idea to do a little research before you leave, so you can find out about prices and locations ahead of time.

How to Find Internet Cafes Abroad – Some Good Sites

One site you might want to check out is World66, previously known as Netcafeguide. World66 does a decent job of listing the Internet cafes and hotspots in various countries. All you have to do is type in your city, press “search” and off you go! World66 also allows registered users to add Internet cafes so others can benefit from your knowledge.

Another site worth checking out: Cybercafes. This site allows you to type in a city name, or to search by country. The site can be inconsistent at times, so check back frequently if you can’t find the results you’re looking for.

Another decent site is Cybercaptive.  You can search by country and then narrow down by city.

How to Find Internet Cafes Abroad – Wifi Hotspots

If you choose to carry a laptop around with you while you travel, then you should research WiFi hotspots before you leave. Some Internet cafes are also WiFi hotspots, but there are plenty of regular cafes and restaurants that serve as WiFi hotspots as well.

Check out Hotspothaven before you go to get an idea of where the WiFi hotspots will be before you go. Hotspothaven is a particularly good site and has plenty of international listings to aid in your search. Another good site to check out is WiFinder. You’ll be able to check if you’ll have to pay to use a hotspot’s location or if you can surf for free. Finally, it’s worth using WiFreeSpot. This site allows you to check for hotspots in various airports, hotels and even RV parks, so it’s a great resource.

If you do a little homework before you leave, you won’t have to worry about being far from a broadband Internet connection. Happy travels!
