Comcast Email

Comcast Email

Comcast Email is called Comcast Webmail, and every broadband Comcast subscriber gets seven email accounts. Comcast’s email service can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection and a Web browser. Read below to learn more about Comcast’s email program and for some answers to common questions.

Comcast Email - How much space do I get for each of my Comcast email accounts?

A lot! Though Comcast used to provide the typical 10 MB of storage for each account, they now offer 250 Mb of storage for each account. (This amounts to 1.75 GB of total e-ail storage capacity for all seven accounts.) When your mailbox reaches the 250 MB capacity, you will no longer be able to receive emails, and you will have to delete messages from your inbox and other folders. (Alternatively, you can download messages onto your computer without leaving them on the server.) The mail system will try to send you messages into your inbox for 72 hours; if your mailbox is still over quota after these 72 hours, all new, incoming mail will be rejected and sent back to its sender.

Comcast Email - What about size limits? What’s the largest file I can send?

Comcast allows you to attach up to 10 MB of files. This means the total amount for all the files you attach, not each separate file. In the event that you need to send e-mails that are larger than 10 MB, you can try using File Transfer Protocol (FTP), a program that is designed to transfer files of all sizes over the Internet. There are other options available to you as well – check Comcast’s Web site for more information and details.

Comcast Email - Can I manage my emails using several different email clients?

Essentially, yes. However, it’s important to keep in mind that most email programs download your email from Comcast to your actual computer, removing them from the Comcast mail server. If you want to check email from several different computers, it’s probably best to change your email settings so that emails are saved to the server. This way, you won’t have one computer with several new messages and another computer with messages you’ve already read, etc. (Also remember, however, that saving a copy of the email on the server counts as part of your 10 MB storage capacity).

Please refer to the following instructions on how to send and receive emails using Microsoft Outlook Express.

Comcast Email - How much will I have to pay for the email accounts?

Comcast email is free to everyone that subscribes to Comcast’s broadband Internet services. Additional costs may apply if users want more than seven e-mail accounts; contact a local Comcast representative today for more information!
