Cox Increases Internet Connection Speeds in Northern Virginia

In May of 2005, Cox Communications in northern Virginia announced that it will once again increase the speeds of Internet connection speeds at no additional cost to customers. Beginning in June of 2005, customers who use either the Preferred or Premier versions of Cox’s high-speed Internet service will begin to see greatly increased Internet speeds. Customers will not need to worry about taking any action to get this faster service, as Cox will take care of all the details.

Details of the Internet Speed Increase

Across Fairfax County in northern Virginia, Cox’s Preferred Package is one of the most popular packages, and it costs under $40. With the new increase in speeds, customers currently using the Preferred Package will now enjoy Internet connection speeds of up to 5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. The package will be available to bundle customers for $39.95 a month. (Bundled refers to the combining of Internet, phone and television services into one low-priced package. It’s a great way to save money on Internet services.)

In addition to the Preferred Package, Cox’s Premier package will also see greatly increased Internet connection speeds. Current Premier package customers will now be able to use Internet connection speeds of up to 15 Mbps downstream and 2 mbps upstream. The Premiere package will also be available to bundled customers, and it will cost $54.95 a month, the same amount of money the package cost before the speed increase.

What the Internet Connection Speed Increase Means for Customers

The customers who will experience this speed increase have already been enjoying all the wonderful benefits that a broadband Internet connection provides, such as being able to upload photos, download music and movies and chat with others online. With these new Internet connection speed increases, users will be able to download music even faster and will be able to build their online music libraries with practically no wait at all. Web pages will load extremely fast, even those Web pages with a lot of Flash technology incorporated into them. Uploading pictures onto online photo albums will occur in seconds, and creating online photo albums will be even easier than before. Internet gamers will also reap great benefits from the speed increase, as game performance will improve.

Hopefully, Cox will soon increase speeds throughout the rest of the country so that other Internet users can enjoy the fast speeds that Cox customers have in northern Virginia!
