Technical RequirementsOther than service and location requirements, certain equipment requirements are also necessary to receive Comcast Phone Services. These technical requirements are as follows: Phone Handset RequirementsIn order to use Comcast phone services, your phone handset must be compatible with FCC Part 68 rules. Refer to the information at the bottom of your handset to determine whether or not it complies with the FCC Part 68 rule. Additionally, the phone handset must function with an REN, or ringer equivalency number, of 1.0 or less. The phone must also be in proper working condition and use the industry standard tone method (as opposed to the rotary or pulse dial phone methods). Electrical Outlet RequirementsWhen using Comcast phone services, your electrical outlet must be established and operated according to current local and national electrical codes. The circuit capacity must be a minimum of 15 amps, and the outlet cannot be shared with an abundance of other electrically-operated devices. Inside Wires and OutletsAll wires and outlets used to operate the Comcast digital phone service must be working properly, be high quality, and comply with all industry standards for telephone services.
