Different companies have different rules in regards to how new customers are defined. On average, most companies define new customers as those with accounts in good standing that have not had service for 60-120 days depending on provider. Contact your provider for more information.

No. Your existing phone line is "split" to allow voice and data transmission at the same time. This means you can talk on your phone and access the Internet at the same time.
