Cox Automated Installation of High Speed Cox Internet Access Services

Cox Communications is partnering with Next Generation Broadband to bring high speed Internet service self-installation and activation to additional service areas this fall.  NGB is supplying Cox with an automated subscriber activation system, making subscribing to Cox Internet access that much easier.

Cox Internet Access Automated Installation

Although Cox has provided automated installation and activation to many customers for years, NGB’s automated subscription system to Cox Internet adds new convenient self-installation features and additional service areas to the process.  After purchasing a cable modem in a store online, customers will be able to tap into the system without any direct intervention from the telecommunications giant to install Cox Internet access.

With the new self-installation option, Cox customers simply purchase a cable modem, and insert the included CD into their computer. The updated version of the software included on the installation CD has a new look and feel, and provides the customer with even easier to use on-screen instructions to help them set up their Cox Internet service. The Cox Internet access self-installation program verifies billing data, sets up user IDs, passwords and e-mail addresses, and finally configures the modem and activates service.

Benefits of Cox Internet Access Automated Installation

Cox believes this new service will save customers both time and money, as customers no longer need to rely on technicians to install Cox Internet access.  With this new automated system, a customer can have telecommunications services running in less than 10 minutes. The automated installation service is also invaluable for Cox. Automated installation saves Cox customer service expenses associated with installations that customers could easily do themselves.

Even more exciting, the system removes the need for pre-provisioned cable modems, which accommodates customer preferences for specific brands and models of hardware.

Prior to the advent of the automated self-installation system, customers were issued a pre-provisioned cable modem from Cox Communications and were not able to make any choices as to which modem they would prefer to use.

The Cox Internet access self-installation option adds a plethora of benefits to the Cox Internet access service. Cox customers will enjoy the simple, self-installation CD, the ability to choose their own cable modem, and the minimal amount of time it takes to install Internet services.

I'm running Windows7 and IE8 on my system at home, and had Cox High-Speed internet running on it for about 7months before I had to cancel my service for financial reasons.

About a month later I reinstated my account and ran into this self installer. I instantly recieved an error message stating that either my browser or OS was not supported. I made a call to tech support; after 20min of plugging and unplugging cables, needlessly, she said she needs to send a tech to resolve the issue and that I would need to pay an additional $6/mo in insurance if I wanted to avoid the $90 charge from the tech.

So I'm going to borrow a laptop from work, running WinXP to see if that will allow me to get my internet up and running.

Dislike.
