Cox Help for Playstation2– Setting it Up

If you’re looking for information on how to set up your PlayStation2 if you have a Cox broadband connection, then you’ve come to the right place! Simply follow these steps:

  1. Put in the PlayStation2 Network Setup CD. Turn on your PlayStation2.
  2. Once the Main Menu opens, choose ISP Setup and then press the X button.
  3. Now you’ll see a screen that should tell you it’s found a network adapter. Press the X button to continue. (In the event that a network adapter isn’t found, you’re going to have to install one.)
  4. Select “new” and press the X button again.
  5. Now type in a name for your connection. Press Enter.
  6. Select Yes and press the X button.
  7. Choose High Speed Connection (Cable or DSL) and press the X button.
  8. Select Automatic Settings and press the X button.
  9. Choose No and press the X button. (do this twice)
  10. The PlayStation will now test the network connection. If you set up everything correctly, you should now be able to press the X button to save your settings.
  11. You’re done! Press the X button to finish the setup.

Q:  I don’t have a personal computer, but I do have Sony PlayStation2. Can I still order Cox High Speed Internet service?  

A: Unfortunately, not at this time. At this time, you must have a personal computer that meets the minimum requirements stated in the subscriber agreement.

Q: Will I be able to get technical support from Cox High Speed Internet technicians for Sony PlayStation2?

A: No – Cox High Speed Internet only gives support for the connection up to the cable modem with issues involving connectivity to your personal computer.

Q: Can I use my Cox High Speed Internet connection with both my personal computer and the Sony PlayStation2?

A: Definitely! You’ll have to configure a home network, and the instructions for doing this are up above.

Q: What kind of home network do I need to be able to use both my personal computer and the Sony PlayStation2 with Cox High Speed Internet?

A: There are many ways you can set up a home network to use both your personal computer and the Sony PlayStation2. Two basic ways are:

  • Use a broadband router in your home network to give Internet access to both your personal computer and the Sony PlayStation2.
  • Order Multiple Computer Access from Cox High Speed Internet, and plug your personal computer and your PlayStation2 into an Ethernet hub (sold separately).
