Get Faster Downloads from P2P File Sharing Programs with Broadband Internet

What is Peer to Peer File Sharing?

Often abbreviated as P2P, peer to peer file sharing software is used to exchange music, video and other files over the Internet. Though P2P file sharing is possible with dial-up connections, high-speed broadband Internet connections allow users to download files in seconds instead of minutes.

Popular Peer to Peer File Sharing Programs Improved by Broadband Internet

There are many different P2P file sharing programs available, and you’ll have to sort through some of them to get a feel for what you’re looking for. Some P2P software programs offer a larger user base that usually means a larger number of files to choose from. Other software does a better job implementing network resources so it’s easier to use than others. An additional important factor is popularity – some software programs increase in popularity while others decline, and the more popular programs are the ones that will have the largest number of users, and thus files, to choose from.

eDonkey/Overnet

This file sharing software system is actually the combination of two P2P networks, eDonkey and Overnet. This means a large base of users and files. eDonkey runs on Windows, Linux and Macintosh computers. Though the free version of eDonkey does contain some embedded advertising, as of yet there are no major problems reported with the spyware that is found in some free file sharing software.

Shareaza

One of the newest P2P clients, Shareaza has a steadily growing fan base. Shareaza features a very powerful search engine that can connec to to multiple P2P networks like eDonkey, BitTorrent and Gnutella. One of Shareaza’s best features is its ability to detect fake and/or corrupted files. What’s more, the free Shareaza download contains no ads or spyware.

Limewire

The Limewire file sharing client connects to the Gnutella P2P network, and it is widely recognized for having a clean and easy to use interface that does not contain any adware. Limeware has also been reported to be the fastest file sharing program, and the software bills itself as offering good search and download performance. Free Limewire software downloads are available for Windows, Linux and Macintosh operating systems.

Kazaa

Kazaa is actually an entire software family that includes the Kazaa Lite family of applications, and it has grown to be the single most popular P2P file sharing system of all time. Kazaa is very fast and easy to use. Nevertheless, there are rumors that both Kazaa and the FastTrack network it uses are declining in both popularity and availability of files. Possible causes include complaints about the omnipresent adware that is embedded into free Kazaa clients and the high number of fake files on FastTrack.

Morpheus

The Morpheus P2P client application downloads exist in both free and paid Ultra versions. Compared to the free version, the Morpheus Ultra download additionally removes bundled advertising. Morpheus clients are capable of searching Gnutella2, FastTrack, eDonkey2K and Overnet P2P networks.
