Vonage to Release New VoIP Business Service

Vonage has announced that they are now in the process of testing a new Voice over IP (VoIP) service specifically designed for small and medium-sized businesses.

The new product is to be called Vonage Business Plus, and will be targeted at commercial companies that employ anywhere from 10 to 100 people. The service is currently being tested by about 75 businesses. Vonage reports that Business Plus will be unveiled in the fourth quarter in the U.S. and a quarter later in Canada. The anticipated product will reportedly closely resemble Vonage’s consumer offerings, like flat-rate calling and very low international rates.

The service, which is intended to compete with industry giants like SBC and Verizon, is going to be sold and installed through value added resellers (also known as VARs) such as independent broadband operators, telephony system vendors and system integrators. Vonage has already recruited over 80 VARs, including a wireless broadband provider.

Although Vonage has not yet released a price for the product; they assure potential customers that they will get excellent value for their money. 

Vonage for Business – Current Offerings

As of late August 2005, Vonage offered two different types of plans targeted for their business customers: Small Business Basic and Small Business Unlimited. Read over the information below to decide which plan suits you and your company best.

Small Business Basic

For only $39.99 a month, your company will be provided with 1500 anytime minutes per month for calling anywhere in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and Canada, and each minute after the first 1500, costs only 3.9 cents per minute.

Your business will also receive:

  • a free, dedicated fax line
  • call waiting, caller ID and call forwarding
  • voicemail plus
  • 911 dialing

Vonage will provide a free phone adapter that can be easily carried with you wherever you go, and can be used wherever there is a broadband Internet connection. What’s more, if you switch over to Vonage, you can still keep your existing phone number.

Small Business Unlimited

If your a commercial entity and expect to be making a large number of phone calls every month, then look into Vonage’s Small Business Unlimited Plan. You’ll be able to enjoy all the benefits and features of the Basic plan with the added benefit of having no restrictions on the number of calls you make each month to anywhere in the U.S. and Canada. This plan costs $49.99 per month, which is only $10 more per month than the Basic plan.
