Know Your Numbers 

An important part of getting started, is knowing ahead of time how much you’re going to be paying for your Internet connection.  One thing to keep in mind is that different providers will offer special promotions and deals depending on when you sign up.   

Look for special offers with the provider you choose.  Some will rent or lease equipment like modems and routers with your subscription and some will have free giveaways.  Be sure to also look at customer feedback and the providers’ customer service policies and reputation.  Check out our Providers article to get started on your search.

This list gives the average price per month that you can expect to find with the majority of Internet providers.  (Note that it does not include the cost of the installation or the equipment).

• DSL - prices range from $40-60
• Wireless Connection - around $30-50 per month
• Dial-up - anywhere from $10- $20 per month
• Cable - cable connections are usually $35- $60
• Satellite - usually twice as expensive as a regular high-speed Internet connection, at around $80- $100
