CBS and Comcast Offer Hit Shows On-Demand

Video On-Demand (VOD) services have become the latest craze in technology.    Cable companies and television networks have begun to offer subscribers and the public VOD so they can download and watch TV shows and movies on their computers whenever they want.

CBS and Comcast’s Newest Offerings

Comcast and CBS just announced their newest project.  They will broadcast four of the most popular television shows on-demand, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS, Survivor and The Amazing Race.  Both Comcast and CBS consider this offering a huge step because they are some of the first primetime programs that will be offered on-demand.

Starting in early 2006, Comcast digital cable subscribers who are served by television stations owned by CBS will be able to watch CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS, Survivor and The Amazing Race on-demand.

Customers will be able to order these programs for a $.99 fee beginning the day after the airing of the show.  When they order the episode, they have 24 hours from that time to watch it.  Some of these shows will offer past seasons’ episodes on-demand as well.

Video-On-Demand

Video-on-demand programming has been wildly successful so far.  With the chaotic schedules many of us have in our lives today, it is difficult to watch all of the television shows we want to.  Ordering and watching programming at our own convenience makes it easy.

Comcast currently offers its customers almost 4,000 shows to choose from on-demand with almost 95% of the programs offered free-of-charge.  Watching television on-demand also means you can rewind, pause and fast forward the programming.  Catching your favorite television programs has never been so easy.
