SBC to Take AT&T Name for VoIP Services |
The Merger of SBC and AT&TTwo of the biggest names in communications, SBC and AT&T, are merging in the coming months. It is said that the authorization of the merger will be finalized in November. SBC, who bought AT&T, which has been operating since 1885, is deciding on a marketing tactic. Because AT&T is such a well-known, familiar name all over the world, SBC may decide to switch over to the AT&T brand following their merger. This will make loyal AT&T customers happy to remain customers. It will also help the marketing campaign by keeping the AT&T name that everyone knows and loves. VoIP Services through SBC/AT&TVoice over Internet Protocol services are becoming wildly popular across the country. With advances being made to VoIP providers, such as complete 911 services, backup power through a common source in place of relying on electrical power, and combining VoIP services with Internet, video and even TV services, customers are going to begin making the switch from the classic phone lines to these new Voice over Internet Protocol services. There are plenty of smaller companies out there offering VoIP services. But SBC and AT&T together have the trust of the public in their hands. This trust and familiarity is what will win them the business they are looking for. Because AT&T has been around for 120 years, they have quite an advantage over the “little guys.” Therefore, with the launch of their VoIP services and so many new subscribers, who are they going to choose? The small company with an unfamiliar name? Or the trusted AT&T with a large scope that has been around since 1885? The winner will go to the company with the longest history and most reliability and familiarity. |
