Comcast Subsidiary to Manage Online Video for Major Cable Operators

Time Warner Cable, Cablevision Systems, and Cox Communications have chosen thePlatform, a Comcast subsidiary, to manage online videos for the companies' websites. Under the agreements, thePlatform will aggregate and publish video content and associated advertising for the websites, and the cable companies will have access to thePlatform's media player tools in order to create unique video channels and playback experiences for consumers.

thePlatform Manages Online Video for Four Major Cable Companies

thePlatform already managed online video for its parent company, Comcast, and the addition of Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, and Cox means that thePlatform now powers the video portals for four of the five largest U.S. cable companies. thePlatform's management services are intended to help these cable companies meet high-speed Interent consumers' demand for online television shows, movies, and other Internet clips.

thePlatform Manages Billions of Online Videos Every Year

According to a statement from thePlatform, hundreds of companies use the firm to manage billions of video plays every year. thePlatform's system manages the entire logistics process behind the publication of broadband video from the content owner to the consumer. Media companies and video sites use thePlatform's services to manage their media, generate revenue from their content, syndicate media to outlets, and create unique broadband video players.

In addition to Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, and Cox Communications, thePlatform provides online video publishing and management for a host of well known consumer brands including: BBC, Corus Entertainment, CBS's College Sports TV, CNBC, Comcast, Gannett/USA Today, Fancast.com, Helio, HIT Entertainment, PBS, PBS KIDS Sprout, Sony BMG, The Hearst Corporation, Verizon Wireless, Vongo, and numerous other media companies.
