"Sprout" Launches on Bright House in Tampa |

September 25, 2008 By Mike Peters Bright House has announced the launch of the PBS Kids Sprout channel in Tampa Bay. PBS Kids Sprout, co-owned by the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), Sesame Workshop, Nicktoons Studios, HIT Entertainment, and Comcast, is a digital cable channel which provides 24-hour programming for preschool age children that their parents and siblings can also share and enjoy. Bright House Offers 24-Hour Programming for Preschoolers with PBS Kids SproutPopular PBS Kids Sprout programs include "The Good Night Show," "The Sunny Side Up Show," "Dragon Tales," "Barney & Friends," "Bob the Builder," and "Angelina Ballerina." PBS Kids Sprout also has in interactive website for young children and their families. As the network celebrates its third anniversary, a company spokesperson said PBS Kids Sprout is now accessible in approximately 77 million homes, either as a stand-alone channel or where it is carried as on-demand programming. Bright House Networks Serves 2.4 Million CustomersBright House Networks serves more than two million customers in several large markets that include Tampa Bay and Central Florida (Orlando), Indianapolis, Birmingham, Bakersfield, and Detroit, along with several other smaller systems in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. The high-growth Tampa/Central Florida markets are contiguous and form one of the country's largest cable clusters. Nearly 100 percent of Bright House Networks customers have high-speed data (HSD), video-on-demand (VOD), and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) available to them as well as digital video recorders (DVRs). The company's Florida operations currently deliver nearly 300 channels - including high definition (HD) programs - to its customers. Bright House Networks also offers HSD customers a choice of multiple internet service providers (MISP) and recently commenced deployment of digital phone service in Tampa Bay, Central Florida, and Michigan. |
