Verizon Adds 16 HD Channels to FiOS TV Lineup in VA

Verizon has announced the launch of 21 new channels - including 16 high-definition (HD) channels - to customers in the Richmond and Virginia Beach areas. FiOS TV customers in the area now have 45 HD channels available. Verizon will continue expanding its FiOS TV channel lineup this year with a major focus on HD content. By year-end the company expects to offer all available major HD programming.

Verizon FiOS TV Customers Offered Additional HD Channels

Mary Ellen Payne, vice president of sales and marketing for Verizon's Potomac region, said "Our increased number of HD channels in addition to HD video-on-demand programming, and our current HD DVR and premium movie promotion, along with the addition of new HD sports channels and multicultural content, is part of our commitment to lead the industry in the scope and quality of our programming."

Verizon Adds High Definition Movie, Sports, and Entertainment Channels

FiOS TV customers in the Richmond and Virginia Beach markets will be able to view many popular channels in HD including Animal Planet, TLC, Science Channel, and Smithsonian Channel. Other new HD programming FiOS TV customers in the region will receive includes CNN, Lifetime, Bravo, TBS, Cinemax, HBO, History Channel, Weather Channel, and SCI FI. In addition, later this year, customers who subscribe to FiOS TV's Movie Package will have access to five new HD channels from Starz and Showtime. Verizon has also launched three new HD sports channels in the area including Big Ten Network, which is available in both standard- and high-definition formats on FiOS TV; Versus/Golf Channel; and Setanta Sports.

Verizon Offers Multicultural Content to FiOS TV Customers

Verizon is focused on bringing a range of diverse, multicultural content to its FiOS TV customers and will soon offer 15 new multicultural channels to subscribers in the Richmond and Virginia Beach markets including leading channels for Arabic, Portuguese, and Russian audiences, among others. These new channels continue to make FiOS TV an outlet for emerging and independent networks to showcase their diverse programming.
