July 16, 2009
Charter high speed internet subscribers and other customers of Charter Communications services are being assured by CEO Neil Smit that the company plans to continue its focus on its customers as it goes through bankruptcy.
The company today filed an amended restructuring plan in bankruptcy court seeking to reduce its debt. Charter filed for bankruptcy on March 27, 2009. The hearing to consider confirmation of the plan is set for July 20, 2009.
"Throughout this process, Charter has maintained its focus on enhancing all aspects of our customers' experience and looks forward to continuing to meet their communications needs in the future," Smit said.
Charter, the fourth-largest cable provider, offers landline phone service and high speed internet services to 5.5 million customers in 27 states.
The company said on its website that it has increased the number of care agents, upgraded the technology used in its care centers and enhanced agent training to serve customers.
"Charter is always available to assist customers quickly and efficiently in person at one of over 300 offices located nationwide, by phone, via online chat and through interaction on social media," the company said.
