Comcast among best places to work in Connecticut
March 26, 2009
The Hartford Business Journal has recognized the cable and broadband company Comcast as one of the best places to work in Connecticut, the company announced.
The company made the list for the fourth year in a row, rising from a number five ranking in 2006 to number two on this years list of top employers in the state. Comcast employs 1,300 people in Connecticut.
"It is an honor to be named among the top places to work in Connecticut," said Doug Guthrie, Comcast vice president for the region.
The 2009 list of 25 companies includes 20 small and medium-sized businesses of less than 200 employees and five companies of more than 200 employees. Comcast earned the second highest score in the large company category with Pepperidge Farm taking the number one spot.
The Hartford Business Journal surveyed each nominated company's workplace policies, practices and demographics as well as employee evaluations of their job experience. The surveys were compiled and managed by the Best Companies Group.
Comcast said it expects demand to continue to grow for digital cable, high-speed internet and digital voice services, which has allowed the company to add more jobs in the state.
