Quality study ranks Verizon Wireless tops in New England
March 20, 2009
Cell phone calls on the Verizon Wireless network have the best quality among service providers in the New England states, according to a study by JD Power and Associates.
The study measures wireless call quality based on incidences of dropped calls, static/interference, failed connection on the first try, voice distortion, echoes, no immediate voicemail notification and no immediate text message notification, Verizon said.
Verizon Wireless said its claim to be the nation's most reliable wireless network is based on network studies performed by real-life testers who inspired the company's national advertising campaign featuring the can you hear me now spokesman.
Testers have conducted more than 3 million voice call attempts and 22 million data tests on the Verizon Wireless network and other national wireless carriers' networks, Verizon said.
The company said it has invested more than $50 billion since it was formed, including a minimum of $6.5 billion in each of the last four years to expand and advance its network.
Verizon has spent $2.4 billion in New England since 2000, said Ken Dixon, president of Verizon Wireless' New England Region.
