AT&T adds to foreign language web TV offering
March 25, 2009
AT&T announced it has added several international channels for customers of its U-verse TV line-up, the only completely IP-based television service offered by a major network carrier.
The company said its international channels can be added to any U-verse TV core programming package, which offers several international subscription options for Spanish, Filipino, Polish, Russian, French and Japanese programming.
"We continue to make our U-verse TV channel lineup bigger and better so U-verse TV customers can watch the content they enjoy in the language they want," said Dan York, executive vice president of content and programming for AT&T.
"These new international channels help us with important strategic content initiatives and give us the opportunity to deliver even more programming to our diverse customer base," York added.
The new offerings include ET News, a 24-hour Mandarin news channel; ET Global, a Mandarin entertainment channel; STAR IndiaPlus, India's number one Hindi entertainment channel; TVBV, a 24-hour Vietnamese-dubbed TVB drama channel; and MBC America, a 24-hour Korean broadcast network.
These channels are available with existing packages or a la carte, the company said.
