AT&T and MTV team up on Justin Timberlake's The Phone
April 22, 2009
A new MTV reality program executive produced by pop singer Justin Timberlake will feature contestants using LG Mobile Phones with AT&T wireless service, the companies announced.
The reality series The Phone, which pits contestants against one another as they compete for a huge cash prize, premiered last night and airs each Tuesday at 10 p.m. EST.
Billed as a groundbreaking game that blends reality and cinematic action-adventure, the series pulls its participants out of their everyday lives and thrusts them into a high-stakes labyrinth of engagement, suspense and intrigue as they race against time for the prize.
Contestants must constantly use an LG Xenon phone and AT&T services to successfully navigate challenges to earn money and continue competing in the game.
Contestants must: receive and send information to and from the Operator and each other using picture, video and text messaging; access the internet using AT&T's high speed wireless 3G network; and use AT&T Navigator to access the GPS capability for turn-by-turn directions and maps.
The Phone is also available through On Demand providers and AT&T wireless and AT&T U-verse TV customers have had unique access to the premiere episode since April 14th.
