Charter Communications Offers International Calling
Charter Communications has expanded its digital phone suite to include an international calling plan to over 200 countries. This added service comes at an additional cost of $20 a month to the consumer. Charter customers can purchase an international calling plan called the Worldwide 250 Calling Plan with 250 minutes of international calling to over 200 countries including Mexico, India, Italy, Germany, China and the U.K.
Charter Phone service, allows for unlimited local and long distance calling using its broadband cable connection, a regular telephone and a special voice modem, similar to VoIP technology.
This new international calling service was first introduced in St. Louis, MO at the International Institute of which assists over 8,000 immigrants and refugees from all over the world with social services and is now available to any of its customers in its US market footprint.
Charter is the third largest cable operator in the United States and has over 7 million digital phone customers. Charter, like many of the other major cable companies such as Comcast, Time Warner and Cablevision are hoping to monetize of off the collapse of VoIP provider SunRocket as well as financial trouble that Vonage is experiencing, in hopes that consumers gravitate towards more established companies for broadband telephony services.
