Comcast and MGM Partner for VOD Action Channel

Comcast has announced a partnership with MGM Studios to launch "Impact," a new video-on-demand channel dedicated exclusively to action movies and television shows. "Impact" is the first VOD channel to offer all action programs - many in high-definition - and is now available to Comcast customers.

"We're excited to announce this partnership to launch an action-focused channel as movies are a very popular feature on VOD," said Matt Strauss, senior vice president, new media, Comcast Cable. "MGM's vast library will give action fans access to their favorite movies at anytime through On Demand, with many available in HD, further complementing our growing HD offering."

"The Comcast On Demand platform is the perfect environment for targeted marketable brands and programming," said Jim Packer, co-president of MGM Worldwide Television. "With more than 1,000 titles in the MGM library that fit our new brand, I'm confident action fans will find 'Impact' a one-stop destination for all of their action entertainment."

Comcast Customers Offered Extensive Action Movie and TV Lineup With "Impact"

Within the first year, "Impact" will premiere many of the most popular action films including movies from the James Bond series, Rocky, Magnificent Seven, and RoboCop, and will include the films of action star icons such as Chuck Norris, Sylvester Stallone, and Charles Bronson. As an ongoing part of this VOD channel, there will also be special programming themes created around action genres including thrillers, crime, espionage, westerns, war films, and martial arts.

Comcast Offers More than 10,000 VOD Selections Per Month

The "Impact" VOD channel joins Comcast's current line-up of movies, new television series, and other new viewing choices that are part of the company's Project Infinity, a commitment to deliver more content choice on television, including more HD, sports, movies, kids' programs, and network TV shows. Currently, Comcast's VOD lineup offers more than 10,000 selections each month, with more than 500 of those choices available at any given time in HD.
