Comcast high speed internet users give thumbs up to TV Everywhere
July 16, 2009
Customers of Comcast and Time Warner Cable are already sold on the idea of TV Everywhere, a plan by the two major cable and internet providers to make cable TV content accessible to their high speed internet subscribers online and on mobile smartphones.
Nearly three out of four customers surveyed by Solutions Research Group said having access to cable channels online or on mobile devices is an excellent (28 percent) or good (45 percent) idea, the company said.
Comcast and Time Warner announced their TV Everywhere concept last month and have already set up a trial to share Time Warner cable content with subscribers of Comcast high speed internet, called On Demand Online.
Yesterday, Comcast announced the addition of content from another 17 networks for the On Demand Online trial, which will test the authentication technology for the project on 5,000 Comcast high speed internet subscribers.
Cable content from networks including Rainbow Media, Scripps, AETN, MGM Impact and BBC will be added to the technical trial.
Comcast has previously announced that content from HBO, TNT, TBS, Starz and CBS will offer hundreds of movies and TV shows online.
