In response to this announcement, Tony Lent, vice president of sales and marketing for Comcast in Michigan asserted, “Canada is the top international calling destination for Comcast Digital Voice customers in Michigan. Including Canada in the its unlimited direct-dial local and long-distance dialing area will save customers a 5 cent per minute charge.”

What is Digital Voice?

Comcast Digital Voice uses an advanced broadband network to transmit phone calls digitally, as opposed to using traditional telephone wires.

Digital voice slices calls into data packets and transmits them across a broadband Internet connection to be assembled on the other end by a standard phone, or personal computer. The quality of your digital call is reliant on the speed that this data is transmitted, as well as the priority that the voice packets are given over other data being transmitted along the same line.

Comcast initially launched this product upgrade to its Digital Voice service in Denver in the beginning of August, and has recently begun rolling out the expanded coverage.
