Comcast offers 4G mobile broadband internet in Atlanta
July 29, 2009
Comcast this week launched its 4G mobile broadband internet service in Atlanta, giving customers there access to high speed internet via wireless data cards. Comcast will be selling the wireless service bundled with its high speed internet, voice and cable products.
Customers can choose between Comcast High-Speed 2go Metro service, to get 4G mobile broadband internet service only within the metro coverage area; or Comcast High-Speed 2go Nationwide service, covering metro 4G service plus coast-to-coast access on Sprint's national 3G network.
The company is offering wireless data services via the Clearwire network, following its investment in Clearwire in November 2008.
For the first time, consumers can choose a "Fast Pack" of bundled services for as low as $49.99 per month for one year. Both new and existing Comcast customers will be eligible for special bundled pricing, with Comcast Triple Play customers receiving 4G wireless as an add-on for as low as $30 per month.
The $49.99 Fast Pack Metro service includes Comcast's 12 Mbps home internet service, a free Wi-Fi router for mobility and 4G service that will provide 3 to 6 Mbps average download speeds with a wireless data card.
For an additional $20 per month, consumers can upgrade to the Fast Pack Nationwide service that includes the same services plus nationwide 3G mobile network access.
