Cox Communications Offers Digital Telephone in all of its Markets

In an effort to provide a digital telephone alternative to all of its 6.7 million customers, Cox Communications announced that it will make Digital Telephone service available to its entire customer base. This announcement came after the recent launch of Cox Digital Telephone in Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes, CA, marking the fifth Digital Telephone market launch for 2006. The company plans to expand to all markets in early 2007.

In a statement released by Cox Communications, David Pugliese, vice president of product development stated, “Cox’s number one commitment is to its customers. Our customers rely on us to deliver a reliable connection every day - for every type of business or residence.”

Cox Digital Telephone - How it Works

Currently, Cox Communications delivers Digital Telephone service to 1.9 million customers. Cox uses Voice Over Internet Protocol technology to transport telephone calls over its own private fiber optic cable data network. With this architecture, Cox Digital Telephone customers can continue using their original telephones and phone jacks with their digital telephone service, and in most cases, customers will be able to keep their original telephone number.
