EarthLink adds DSL service in 15 states
June 2, 2009
Internet service provider EarthLink announced the expansion of its DSL internet footprint in 34 markets across 15 states, adding 2.5 million additional households.
EarthLink's DSL and cable internet services footprint - meaning, the area where its services are available - is the largest in the United States and available to approximately 75 million households.
The company said its high speed internet service, which includes DSL, cable and satellite, is available to over 90 percent of all U.S. households.
States where additional service is available include parts of Ohio, Michigan, Texas, California, North Carolina and Florida.
Kevin Brand, EarthLink's senior vice president of product management, said the expansion will provide consumers with an additional choice in these markets. "In today's economy many Americans are shopping around for the best value to meet their internet access needs," he said.
Available high speed internet services from EarthLink include webmail and website hosting, anonymous email addresses that are linked to standard email addresses and computer security features including antivirus, spam and firewall protection.
EarthLink high speed internet customers receive 20 hours per month of free dial-up access, allowing them to stay connected when they are away from home.
