Mediacom adds to its Family Cable package
March 23, 2009
Customers searching for more family-friendly content on cable might be interested in a new offering from Mediacom Communications. The cable company announced it has added four more cable networks to its HD Family Cable line-up.
The new networks are Home & Garden HD (HGTV), Food HD, FX HD and Speed HD. Mediacom, the eighth-largest U.S. cable provider, will also add FOX News to its HD line-up in the coming weeks, the company said.
"Throughout the past year we've expanded high-definition programming to offer the HD experience for more of the most popular television networks," said Mediacom's Cari Fenzel.
Fenzel reminded customers that the transition to digital on June 12 this year will mean access to more local and informational channels viewable in a digital channel spectrum and within a channel area for which there is no added cost.
To receive high-definition reception, customers must have an HD television and lease an HD converter box or cable card from Mediacom, Fenzel said.
To provide HD programming, Mediacom leases HD cable boxes for the same price as a standard cable box.
