New York Internet Access to Improve with New, Higher-Speed Broadband Connection

In June of 2005, Cablevision Systems Corp. and Narad Networks announced the successful introduction of a 100 Mbps data service to over 4.4 million homes and hundreds of thousands of businesses in the metropolitan New York area. The service uses the Narad Broadband Access Network (NBAN) and Cablevision’s current networking facilities. Narad Networks Inc., is a major provider of business-class broadband access using switched Ethernet over cable. Cablevision is one of the nation’s leading entertainment and telecommunications companies.

Initially, this service is being made available in the area of Oyster Bay, Long Island. Cablevision is providing a committed rate of 50 Mbps in that area.

So far, the deployment of the service has gone along smoothly and without much trouble.

What Does a Faster Broadband Connection Mean for New Internet Access?

With these higher speeds, residents in the New York metro area can expect to enjoy faster download speeds and upload speeds.  Here are some of the features they can look forward to:
