OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network previews content

This week OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network previewed some of the projects and series coming to the new network for members of the advertising and media communities.

Christina Norman, CEO of OWN, said the network's programming strategy is based on the idea of "living your best life." The full network launch schedule will be announced later this year, the network said.

OWN will premiere in the U.S. in early 2010 on what is currently Discovery Health Channel. The digital component, MyOwn.com, has already launched with an interactive experience for audiences to play with and create their own version of the network's logo. Winfrey is the network's inspiration, chairman and chief creative officer.

"This is just the beginning for OWN and what we envision will be a new entertainment experience for our audiences," said Winfrey.

"One of the things I love about my work is getting to meet extraordinary people who have done amazing things in life," she added. "So, for OWN, I will be hand-picking some of the most engaging and intriguing people of our time and giving them a stage all their own to share their stories and best life lessons with all of us."

Winfrey's hand-picked inspiring people will be the basis of a show called Master Class, produced by Winfrey's Harpo Productions.
