High speed Broadband internet gets PowerBoost in Ohio
July 15, 2009
Time Warner Cable announced earlier this month the launch of its PowerBoost technology in parts of Ohio, allowing High Broadband Internet speed internet customers there to get temporary bursts of speed to help with downloading.
PowerBoost gives customers added juice - up to 19Mbps for Turbo - when downloading files or gaming, at no additional cost. PowerBoost activates automatically when bandwidth is available, the company said.
"At Time Warner Cable we are always working on new technological advances and product enhancements to bring the best services and value to our customers, and PowerBoost is just another example," said Vin Zachariah, regional vice president of operations for Time Warner's Southwest Ohio division.
Broadband customers also get free access to a suite of services on the RoadRunner.com portal, such as anti-spam, anti-virus, firewall and parental controls and 52 channels of commercial free music with Road Runner Radio.
The site also connects to thousands of videos from programming providers such as CNN and Showtime, plus photo-sharing software that in many markets allows customers to post their creations to the web as well as their TV.
