Sopranos creator making miniseries for HBO
March 30, 2009
David Chase, the creator of the wildly popular HBO series The Sopranos, is currently developing a new miniseries for the premium cable channel, according to HBO's parent company, Time Warner Cable.
The series, called A Ribbons of Dreams, will follow a dramatic story depicting the launch of the film industry in Hollywood. The series begins in 1913 and follows two men, one a college-educated engineer, the other a cowboy with a violent past, who partner together to become pioneers in the fledgling industry.
Chase will write and executive produce the miniseries and direct the initial episodes. Brad Grey, who executive produced The Sopranos with Chase, will also serve as an executive producer on the miniseries.
"It gives me pleasure to think of working, together with Brad, with HBO, again," Chase said. "These are all people who, obviously, occupy a special place in my heart."
The Sopranos, winner of multiple Emmy awards, has been hailed as one of the mostsignificant series in television history. Chase previously executive produced the series I'll Fly Away and Northern Exposure. He is also writing a feature film for Paramount Pictures.
