Verizon Adds 56 HD Channels in Philadelphia

Verizon has announced the launch of 76 new channels for its FiOS TV customers in the Philadelphia region, including 56 additional high definition (HD) channels. The region which will receive the new channels includes parts of southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware where customers will now have access to 86 HD channels as well as more than 500 HD video-on-demand (VOD) titles each month.

Verizon will continue to expand its FiOS TV channel lineup this year, with a major focus on HD content. By year-end, the company expects to offer all available major HD programming.

Verizon FiOS TV Adds New HD Entertainment, News, Sports, and Movies

Additional HD channels Verizon FiOS TV customers will receive include Animal Planet, TLC, Science Channel, Smithsonian Channel, CNN, CNBC, Lifetime, Bravo, TBS, History Channel, Weather Channel, USA, and SCI FI. Movie channels include 11 new HD channels from Cinemax and 13 from HBO, plus FiOS TV's Movie Package which now includes 13 new HD channels from The Movie Channel, Starz, and Showtime, including The Movie Channel Xtra, Starz Edge, Starz Comedy, Starz Kids and Family, Showtime, Showtime Showcase, Showtime Extreme, and Showtime 2. Verizon also offers six new HD sports channels including the Big Ten Network, the Tennis Channel, hockey and golf on Versus/Golf Channel, the Outdoor Channel 2, World Fishing Network, and Mav TV.

Verizon Adds Standard Definition and Multicultural Channels to FiOS TV

In addition to the new HD content, Verizon has launched 20 new standard-definition channels in the Philadelphia region. New content includes Reelz, Veria TV, WAPA TV, the Big Ten Network, and Setanta Sports. Verizon also is offering customers in the Philadelphia area 15 new multicultural channels, including leading channels for Arabic, Portuguese, and Russian audiences, among others.
