Verizon announces new content for Verizon Hub
April 2, 2009
The Verizon Hub, a device that connects landline phone, wireless cell phones and the internet, will offer more functionality and new content, including horoscopes, puzzles, Sudoku and streaming radio in the near future, Verizon announced.
It's designed to replace the old wired landline phone with digital service that can share information with Verizon cell phones in unique ways, according to BusinessWeek.
The Verizon Hub runs on any broadband connection, whether supplied by Verizon or any other high-speed internet service provider. Customers must purchase a Verizon digital voice plan and have a Verizon Wireless connection when purchasing the device, which retails for $199.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a two-year agreement.
Mike Lanman, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, said the company launched the Verizon Hub two months ago and has since improved the performance and content applications through new additions.
Customers can access radio on the internet through the device, including more than 60 popular news, sports and music stations from across the country by touching V CAST from the home menu screen.
