Verizon announces six new HD channels for FiOS TV

Verizon announced Monday the addition of six new high-definition channels on Verizon's FiOS TV service.
The six new HD channels from Entertainment Studios - Comedy.TV, Recipe.TV, ES.TV, MyDestination.TV, Cars.TV and Pets.TV - will begin to launch in FiOS TV markets this week, Verizon said.
"The addition of these channels helps us to continue our commitment to offer FiOS TV customers the best in HD programming," said Terry Denson, vice president of FiOS TV content and programming.
Cars.TV showcases programming about the collectors, designers, innovators and ultimate-car enthusiasts. Pets.TV offers pet news, pet care, pet health and pet lifestyles programming while Comedy.TV features a mix of live concert performances, sitcoms and movies, Verizon said.
MyDestination.TV is a travel network; ES.TV is dedicated to entertainment news, variety shows and celebrity profiles; and Recipe.TV features famous chefs, food and delicious cuisine from around the world.
These six new channels join the more than 100 HD channels already offered by FiOS TV, which already offers more than 500 all-digital channels and 14,000 video-on-demand (VOD) titles each month, Verizon said.
FiOS TV is currently available to more than 9.7 million homes in 14 states.
