Windows 7 offers wireless broadband internet bonuses
July 23, 2009
Microsoft's new operating system Windows 7 is due to come out for consumers on October 22, but the company has previewed many of the new features that should enhance user experience for surfing the web, including unique features for wireless broadband internet connections.
With Remote Desktop Connection, you can access a computer running Windows from another computer running Windows that's connected to the same network or to the internet - meaning you can connect to your work computer from home to use all of your work computer's programs, files and network resources, Microsoft says.
Windows 7 also offers Windows Connect Now, a feature that simplifies the process of connecting to a wireless broadband internet network. Windows 7 can act as a wireless access point, allowing users to share their wireless broadband internet connection with other users.
Microsoft says the operating system comes with better parental controls and filtering options and the OS is packaged with the latest web browser version, Internet Explorer 8.
Reviewers say IE 8 greatly improves browsing with better handling of browser tabs. If you commonly keep multiple tabs open, IE 8 allows you to drag them into color-coded groups for keeping similar pages together.
