Zenith Sets Up DTV Transition Online Resource

November 19, 2008

By Jennifer Hull

Zenith has announced it is stepping up its efforts to help consumers with the DTV transition by launching a new online resource explaining how to properly install converter boxes. Zenith is a leading provider of digital-to-analog converter boxes designed to bring new digital television to older analog television sets that rely on set top or roof top antennas.

Set up Converter Boxes Now to be Sure of DTV Transition Readiness

Zenith is urging analog TV viewers to install their boxes now so they can begin enjoying the benefits of digital broadcasting and also avoid possible confusion about receiving the new digital channels on Feb.17, 2009, when all of the nation's full-power TV broadcasters are required to make the final transition to all-digital service.

The Zenith web site, http://www.zenith.com/dtv, now includes an online video that demonstrates converter box set up, including how to scan the new digital channels with the box's remote control. The video is fully captioned and also available online in Spanish. As shown on the video, set-up is simple: connect an antenna, put the batteries in the remote control, and connect the box to the TV's antenna input.

Reasons for the DTV Transition

Digital television will allow viewers to receive much better picture quality and sound on their sets as well as allowing for interactive data and video services which are not available on analog television sets. Also, broadcasters will be able to multicast programs which will free up the airwaves for transmissions by public safety and emergency responders.
