Digital TV Offers HBO Original Series
Digital TV offers its subscribers riveting drama and hilarious comedy from HBO original series. From old favorites like The Sopranos and Sex and the City to current shows, Digital TV customers can enjoy them all on HBO and On Demand.
New HBO Drama Series on Digital TV
This year HBO has several new dramas: Hung follows the life of former high school sports legend, Ray Drecker (Thomas Jane). His life as a middle-aged, divorced, high school basketball coach with financial challenges is not what he envisioned in his glory days, but he’s working on it.
The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency, shot on location in Botswana, follows Precious Ramotswe (Jill Scott), who has opened her country’s first (and only female-owned) detective agency. While investigating cases ranging from missing children to misbehaving spouses to con-artists, Ramotswe personifies the real-life struggle of Africans trying to make a better life for themselves.
New HBO Comedy Series for Digital TV Subscribers
HBO’s flair for some of the best comedies on television continues with Eastbound & Down, the latest project from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, which follows the career of former relief pitcher Kenny Powers (Danny McBride), whose fading talents and insufferable personality ended his Big League career and brought him to a job as a substitute gym teacher.
Summer Heights High showcases the comedy of Chris Lilley in this mockumentary-style series. Lilley portrays three characters: Jonah, a student with more than his share of unique problems; Mr. G, a teacher who brings his own special magic to the performing arts department; and Ja’mie, a young lady of privilege and private schools who has opted to attend Summer Heights High School to learn about less fortunate students.
Digital TV Presents Current Series From HBO
Other HBO original series offerings include Entourage, the story of young actor Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his Hollywood posse that is loosely based on producer Mark Wahlberg’s experiences. Anna Paquin stars in True Blood, the latest offering from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball, which brings a kinder, gentler view of vampires to a small Louisiana town. The ode to polygamy continues in Big Love, and In Treatment follows psychoanalyst Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne) in his efforts to help emotionally-challenged patients.
Real Time with Bill Maher showcases Maher’s irreverent perspective and opinionated guests to discuss the political scene. Larry David will make you laugh in Curb Your Enthusiasm. And be sure to watch the unique and entertaining comedy, Flight of the Conchords, featuring New Zealand musicians Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, their manager Murray (Rhys Darby), and number one – and possibly only – true fan, Mel (Kristen Schaal).
